What is a ball check valve?
A ball check valve functions by means of a ball that moves up and down inside the valve. The seat is machined to fit the ball, and the chamber is conically shaped to guide the ball into the seat to seal and stop a reverse flow.
If the pump capacity is not sufficient it is possible to choose a lighter ball, and if water hammer occurs when the pump stops, it may be solved by selecting a heavier ball.
Ball check valves are often preferred for use in pumping stations that are rarely attended, since they demand only limited maintenance, typically if the ball makes noise caused by insufficient pump capacity or water hammer.
Salient Features:
1. Lowest possible pressure drop across the valves.
2. 100% leak proof sealing years over years.
3. Non-clogging and self cleaning as ball rotates during operation.
4. Virtually no wear and tear, no maintenance and longer service life.
5. Higher solid handling capacity due to full bore and straight internal path.
6. Lower head loss-high discharge, reduced pumping time-All leading to Energy Saving.
FAQs – Cast Iron Non Return Valve Ball Type (Normax) Flange End:
1. How does a ball type NRV help maintain smooth flow in cast iron pipeline systems?
The ball type NRV ensures smooth, one-directional flow by using a floating ball mechanism that prevents backflow, enhancing system reliability in cast iron pipeline applications.
2. Can a ball type NRV handle dirty or slightly contaminated fluids effectively?
Yes, the ball type NRV is well-suited for handling fluids with suspended particles, as its simple ball-and-seat design minimizes clogging and ensures dependable operation.
3. Does the ball type NRV offer easy maintenance compared to other non-return valve designs?
The ball type NRV features a straightforward internal mechanism, making inspection and maintenance easier without requiring extensive disassembly.
4. How well does a ball type NRV perform in low-pressure or gravity-fed systems?
A ball type NRV performs efficiently in low-pressure and gravity-fed applications because the lightweight ball responds quickly to changes in flow, ensuring reliable non-return functionality.
