What is a vacuum gauge?
Vacuum Gauge a measuring instrument, measuring sub atmospheric pressure in a vessel, chamber, tank etc. As per the requirement, or vacuum system a user can choose from different types of vacuum gauges available. They are designed to cater to different engineering purposes.
In short, it is pressure meter measuring sub atmospheric pressure in a cavity.
Types of vacuum gauge.
On the basis of its operation, vacuum gauges can be differentiated to 3 groups. ionization, mechanical, thermal conductivity.
Bourdon type vacuum gauges are can be grouped as a mechanical type gauge. These gauges measures sub-automatic pressure using some form of mechanical movement of tubes or diaphragms exposed to differences in pressure. Due to this feature of mechanical movements, they are also called differential gauges. Typically, one part of the element is exposed to reference vacuum, and the instrument measures the mechanical movement that takes place when a pressure is exerted at the other end of the tube of diaphragm.
